The title of this post accurately sum up how I feel about my writing this March. Usually at the end of the month I'm a bit sad that the SOL challenge is ending for the year. I can also choose a piece or two that I enjoyed writing and am proud of. This year, not… Continue reading Fine, I guess

Wanda Squirrel
Mid summer, Casey started calling our old Puggle "Wanda Squirrel." Totally random, out of nowhere, but it stuck. And then, someone one, somewhere--I blame YouTube--taught him the "Baby Shark" song. You know... "Bay-beee shark, do, do, do do do, Bay-beee shark, do do do do do". Sigh. I guess, between watching videos about smoking briskets… Continue reading Wanda Squirrel
Traveling Thoughts
And we're back home. Traveling is funny, isn't it? You anticipate the trip for so long. You can't wait. You count down the days. And then you go. It's fun. It's relaxing. It's delightful and, at least for a while, you don't want it to end. Today the weather was PER. FECT. I swear. And… Continue reading Traveling Thoughts
No To-Do List
No timelines, No to-dos, Just free to come and go as we please. The beach is calling, so we go. Casey’s wants crab legs, so let’s find a place. Crashing, soothing, waves, take a snoozer in the sun (with lots of sunscreen). Time to eat again. No chores, no work, no planning for a sub… Continue reading No To-Do List
Sunburn
I hate being sunburned. Today started very foggy. Our morning at the beach was spent in near zero visibility, with crashing waves and strong winds. The day very slowly brightened and warmed up. But, of course, I waited too late to put on sunscreen. I put it on, multiple times, but, alas, I am still… Continue reading Sunburn
Driving
We are 2 1/2 hours into our 4 1/2 drive to the beach. I miss the days of finding road trips exciting. Packing all of your activities and crawling into your space in a packed out vehicle. Snacks, drinks, and books galore. Nowadays, I’m just sore and cranky. My lower back hurts, my hips hurt,… Continue reading Driving
Kosmo, we miss you
One year ago today we had to make the very difficult (but right) decision to send our first dog, Kosmo Kramer, across the rainbow bridge. We miss him terribly, but we have rested comfortably knowing we made the right decision based on what was going on. We imagine he's playing up there with his cousin,… Continue reading Kosmo, we miss you
Painted Trees
Someone took a paint brush just barely dipped in paint-- hues of light green, red, brownish-green-- and tapped them on the tips of all the trees dots here and small brush strokes there. Each day they add color and depth to the trees until they are lush and green. The picture doesn’t do this view… Continue reading Painted Trees
Brisket FTW
I have a new favorite meal and three of the five ingredients are things I would’ve never eaten a decade ago. It’s funny how your tastes change as you get older. My new favorite meal is brisket quesadillas. Casey loves to use his Traeger, so he makes a brisket and then we find ways to… Continue reading Brisket FTW
This is Just to Say
I have not done what was on the to do list which you were probably expecting me to do Forgive me there was just too much to do and too little time "This is Just to Say" by William Carlos Williams is one of my favorite poems (and my favorite poems list is SHORT), so… Continue reading This is Just to Say
