“Fake it ’til you make it” works.
Today our school day did not start off well. Like, at all. I won’t go into detail, but let me just say there was a pervasive feeling of defeat, sadness, and maybe even anger. The thought of teaching made me sick to my stomach.
But as kids started walking down the hall saying “Good morning, Mrs. Louden” and I smiled and replied “good morning” and “how are you?” and “hi y’all”, the feelings I was fighting moved out of the way.
Isn’t it weird how that works? It’s funny how the job that seems to be slowly eating away at my mental health can also being a saving grace at times.
I was thankful for the distraction my kiddos provided from my emotions today.
And that’s it. That’s all I’ve got to give today, y’all.
