I’m sitting on my patio tonight while my husband grills steaks. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Not hot, not too cool.
Perfection.
The dogs are trotting around the yard, monitoring the perimeter as usual, checking in with us on each lap.
The sun is still out, although barely; it’s seeping through the slats of the fence around our yard. The wind is whispering through the trees and carrying the neighborhood smells of cookouts and the sounds of children released from the confines of winter to play in the streets.
It’s like spring break come early. Two weeks early, in fact. The next two weeks are going to be difficult. But if I can spend my evenings in a slice of heaven like this, I think I might make it.
Happy week to you all!
I’m trying to write for 31 days straight with the Slice of Life challenge from Two Writing Teachers. Wish me luck!!
Thank you everyone, for the sweet comments! I’m sorry I haven’t responded sooner! Trying to get everything in order this week to be gone for four days, sort of messed with my time management. I appreciate you taking time to comment though, and I’d like to respond to you all, but my friends are waiting on me to go eat breakfast. Y’all are the best, and you’re the reason I actually manage to write each day, so thanks!! 🙂

It’s been in the 60s here in Northeast Iowa, about 20 degrees above average, so we won’t complain much either. I can “feel” what your weather is doing around you right now, which is pretty sweet! Thank you for sharing this slice with us! 🙂

I feel like I’m right there with you. I love how you described the sun barely there.

I love this slice. Your words paint a gorgeous snapshot of an ordinary moment to be grateful for. I especially love the phrase “seeping through the slats.” Thank you for reminding me of the beauty of simple moments.
