Puppy Love #SOL16 Day 6

Today was the second and last day of the Alabama Horse Fair.  The weather was great; I got to hang out with my friends; I got to love on some of my favorite horses (just not mine), and I got to meet some cute new puppies.

I fell in love immediately. I almost bought one. I was this close.

My husband and I have been half-jokingly saying that we want another dog.  We have two, they’re both nine years old.  We both want another one because we LOVE dogs, but we also both know how much work puppies are.  I’m usually the one saying, “no, it’s not time yet.”

But then I met these sweet babies.  They’re Aussie-Lab mixes and they are PRECIOUS.  Here are the text messages that took place:

I didn’t know whether he was serious or not. I went to see them again today and continued to bug Casey about getting the puppy.  Unfortunately, he had a rare weekend day of work, so he wasn’t really able to communicate (or he was ignoring me–probably more likely, hahaha).

Oh, I forgot to mention that I’m the worst decision maker and I hate spending money. Case in point: I talked about buying a new Kindle for at least a week (I had one of the originals) and finally after days of me contemplating this $100 purchase, he said “buy the damn Kindle”, so I did.

You can imagine the predicament I was in today.  Puppy or no puppy?  Follow my head or my heart?  Ugh. It was a rather excruciating day. I texted several people trying to get different opinions, but most of them said, “get it!”  Ugh again.

I didn’t get one.  And now I’m sad.  Casey said, “I told you to bring him home”, but he also reminded me that they poop on the floor, shed everywhere, chew things, so his messages were a little confusing.  Now I keep looking at their picture and my heart just breaks from the cuteness.  I think it’s a sign that I am indeed ready for another puppy.

Petfinder.com, here we come!

Have a great week, folks!

I’m trying to write for 31 days straight with the Slice of Life challenge from Two Writing Teachers.

  1. I’m not sure I could have resisted!! But you’re right…they are so much work and how could you have chosen which one (and who could take THREE puppies at once!!)? Whew! What a rough day! I hope you get a special fur-baby soon! 🙂

  2. They look precious. What a hard decision. Dogs are so special even when they are puppies and poop on the floor.
